If you want to "vote for the man" then register to be an independent. It's really pretty simple.

sasnak, I saw that exact same post in comments on the Lawrence JW website. Do you have a copy/paste problem?

Although the religious right is a very small minority in Kansas, they are very well organized, and have been coached by their leadership to seek election as precienct captains by “stealth”, i.e., without revealing their anti-democratic, rightwing orthodoxy. that is why Kline's so-called election by the republican party “leadership” was a shock to all. Now we know the lengths they are willing to go to, and should adjust our response accordingly.

To answer the question, perhaps there are folks who evaluate the worth of a candidate regardless of the political party he represents.

I'm a Republican and I voted for Dennis when he ran against Kobach and Ahner, because I thought he was the better candidate. So far, apparently most of the district agrees.

But yeah - I'm glad I don't have to choose between MPC and Sue Gamble. That's like having to pick between being punched in the face or kicked in the nads: both are bad, but one's worse. :)
