Recent contribution reports by District Attorney Candidates in Johnson, Shawnee and Sedgwick Counties show Democrats have raised $300,793 and spent $423,857, while Republican candidates have raised only $181,521 and spent $212,670.
Gov. Sebelius’ Bluestem Fund PAC is helping all Democratic DA candidates. Labor unions are big contributors to Democratic DA candidates in Johnson and Shawnee Counties, but not Sedgwick County.
Prolife folks will take note that one of the law firms representing Dr. George Tiller, Monnat & Spurrier, gave to Nola Foulston, and both Dan Monnat and Stanley Spurrier also individually contributed to Foulston.
Are Democratic money sources, left-leaning PACs and labor unions buying the District Attorneys in Kansas’ three largest counties?

Many contributions from attorneys in the Office of the District Attorney.
George Tiller’s attorney’s law firm, Monnat & Spurrier, gave Foulston$500. Tiller’s attorney and wife, Dan and Grace Wu Monnat, gave Foulston $500. Monnat had been appointed by Gov. Sebelius to the Kansas Sentencing Commission. Stanley and Linda Spurrier also gave Fouston $500.
Another Tiller attorney, Lee Thompson, is listed on Nola Foulston’s web site as a supporter.
Several contributors (pp 6-7 of 35) are missing addresses, and Foulston will need to file an amended report to correct these errors.
