Glenn Beck on his radio and TV programs has discussed his nine principles and twelve values as his reaction to a caller frustrated that no one in American government was listening. Instead of encouraging specific actions, Beck suggested these principles and values may be a platform on which agreement can be found, and a way we could take the country back from politicians who are out of touch.
Yesterday’s article, “We Surround Them Friday,” gave some additional details of today event.
Sharon Evans from Roeland Park, who has never been involved in politics before, took the initiative to organize this event at the Lenexa Senior Center and even paid the $140 rental fee.
Ms. Evans explains her motivation: “The country is going in a direction that is extremely dangerous. … We need to pull together and turn it back around.” See this video:
All 90 seats were full and about 25 were standing for most of the meeting.
Everyone cheered when Glenn Beck’s “You are not alone” program started. Beck talked about his “We Surround Them” mosaic. If you missed Beck’s program today, it will be repeated on Saturday afternoon on the Fox News Channel.
Most attending this event were total strangers. All were concerned with recent government actions, such as the huge stimulus bill with wasteful port leading to higher taxes, and were concerned the country was shifting left into socialism.
After Glenn Beck’s program, Sharon Evans led a discussion about how to make government more accountable. Some of the topics from the discussion are represented below.
Richard Fry from the November Patriots explained the actions of his group and helped Sharon Evans field some of the questions.
A woman, who recently moved from Texas to Kansas, explained how amazed she was about the lax procedures used in Kansas during elections, and how easy voter fraud in Kansas could be.
A Mom explains her concerns for the future of her three children.
A Grandmother is concerned for her grandchildren.
A Dad wants his daughters to grow up in the same America he did and have the same freedom. He fears they will not have a better life than he has.
Beck announced his “9.12 Project,” which not only represented the 9 principles and 12 values he discussed before, but a populist effort to mobilize listeners and viewers to action.
Beck mentioned the unified feeling Americans had on 9/12 after the Sept 11, 2001 disaster in New York. Beck said that 9/12/2009 will be the next event he is planning.
