Today’s Salina Journal has a good article explaining Chapman bond issue on ballot Tuesday:
“restoring the schools won’t come cheap. On Tuesday, Chapman School District voters will decide whether to approve issuing $8.2 million in bonds, the amount needed to supplement expected federal disaster funding for the $75 million project” …
“The combined space of the elementary and middle schools, 171,000 square feet, is 81 percent more than the original.” …
“Critics of the project note that the new buildings are not just a little larger — the combined square footage went from 203,400 to 314,000. Critics remain unpersuaded that alternatives — such as a single K-12 attendance center — were thoroughly explored”
