On 4/4/2004 I registered the domain KansasMeadowlark.com and a week later on 4/11/2004 I posted my first Meadowlark article, “Republican” Delegate from Mission Hills to attend Democratic National Convention?”.
Many of my articles over the last five years have been about Kansas government accountability and transparency, and especially untold stories about political money and its influence on Kansas government.
Letters to the editor and E-mails to reporters were often ignored years ago, including ones backed up by substantial research. A few requests to the press to meet and discuss some of my early research projects were ignored. This site was my response to being ignored too many times by the Kansas press, and especially the Kansas City Star. Now I rarely send anything to reporters or editors because they don’t want some news, and are not willing to ask questions. A blog is one of the few outlets an individual can use to publish items mostly ignored by the Kansas press.
I have made short statements in blog discussions without substantiation and they are challenged or ignored. When I write encyclopedia-like articles with “too much” information they are largely ignored. There are too many center-right issues the press simply is not interested in reporting, or reporting accurately. My blog has been an attempt to provide some coverage and balance to stories often ignored or under reported.
I have participated occasionally in comments on other Kansas blogs. My favorite quote during the last five years was from a discussion with an occasional debate friend, political_mom, on the Wichita Eagle blog on May 11, 2007:
Meadowlark you’re such a Lying infected sebaceous pustule on the scrotum of humanity.
I will admit I had to use a dictionary to find out exactly what that statement meant. I assume that I win such debates when a response attacks me personally instead of challenging my facts or logic.
I chose to start signing my articles with my name on Aug 30, 2008 and provide more transparency to my own writings.

I want to personally thank you for all that you’ve done. I don’t consider your site a blog but a news source; and one much better than the KC Star could ever hope to be.
Happy Anniversary & Congrats Meadowlark!!! Agree totally with RockChalk… you aren’t just a blog, you are a news and FACT source and I appreciate all that you do. Keep at it and many more years to go.
Just found your blog from a post on FreeRepublic.com.
