Gullion is the chair of Gold Bancshares, where former Lt. Gov. Gary Sherrer is now an Exec VP. Gullion received $50,000 from the Greater Kansas City Chamber in 2002 for his Committee to Support our Schools. He claims he gave $10,000 of this to Larry Winn's Committee for Excellence in JoCo Schools (but Larry claims he got the money directly from the Chamber).

In a Nov 22, 2002 letter to the Ethics Commission, this entry was explained to be from John Van Keppel, 13741 Penbrook Ct, Leawood. John and his wife Joanne volunteer at the Mainstream Coalition office. John served as MAIN*PAC director in 2003. He is active with the "Heartland Humanist" (atheist) group. Van Keppel is a Republican for Moore and is active with KFUPE. He's contributed to both KFUPE and the Blue Valley First Committee.
According to a story that appeared online in the South Mississippi Sun Herald on Nov 21, 2003, Van Keppel protested Judge Moore's visit to Overland Park:
Before the speech, Leawood resident John van Keppel carried protest signs along the street in front of the church.
"I think there's a plot afoot; there's too many conservative churches becoming involved in politics," van Keppel said.
At times during his appearance Wednesday, Moore held a Bible and related stories from it. He also quoted Thomas Jefferson, and read from the transcript of his own ouster hearing.
Notable Expenditures

So why doesn't the press report this conflict of interest? 1729 Grand Blvd, KCMO, is the address of The Kansas City Star. $25,534 to the KC Star's "Star Direct" service isn't exactly pocket change.
The Talon Interactive group is quite interesting. Mainstream Coalition in their Oct 28, 2002 report says they spent $1,000 for "phone banking" at Talon Interactive on 8/4/2002. Taff for Congress in their April 15, 2004 report (p. 92 of 109) says they spent $3000 at Talon Interactive for "Electioneer Service" on 1/13/2004.
